Injury rocks Tanzania national team

INJURIES have hit the Tanzania national soccer team, Taifa Stars, ahead of their crucial return leg tie against Uganda Cranes in Kampala.

Head coach Marcio Maximo said the team may miss the services of midfielders Henry Joseph, Abdi Kassim and striker Uhuru Sulemani, who sustained injuries in the last qualifying matches against Kenya and the Cranes.

Maximo said he would only field the trio if they pass a fitness test before the crunch match against Uganda. “They are gradually improving, but I am not sure if I will use them in the return leg match in Kampala,” he said.

Maximo also said custodian Ivo Mapunda and defender Shadrack Nsajingwa were improving after being out of action for the last six months.

Meanwhile, Serengeti Breweries Limited (SBL) has awarded 100 dollars to each Taifa Stars player for beating Uganda Cranes in the first leg encounter in Mwanza last week.
