Mwanza Zara Solar wins Ashden Award

THE Mwanza-based Zara Solar has won the 2007 Ashden Africa Award for providing high-quality, reliable and affordable solar-home-systems to communities lacking access to a reliable source of energy.

The company, one of several winners of this year’s award, was announced here on Thursday during a function graced by former US Vice-President Al Gore.
Mr Al Gore congratulated each winner for their inspiring efforts to create lasting solutions to climate change.
