Lake Victoria's water level goes up

LAKE Victoria is gradually continuing to recover from its 2.54-metre lowest level recorded late last year, a spokesperson of the lake basin water office confirmed here yesterday.

The Acting Water Officer of the Lake Victoria Basin, Mr Lusekelo Ambokile Mwambuli, said the water level had risen by 1.2 metres in the past eight months.

He attributed the rise in the lake water level to heavy rains still pouring on its archipelagoes more than it does on the mainland.
