No forceful relocation of Mwanza residents, says deputy minister

FORCE will not be used to evict thousands of residents from unsurveyed plots on Igogo, Bugando, Mabatini, Isamilo, Kitangiri and Kilimahewa hills in Mwanza, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Office Celine Kombani told the National Assembly here yesterday.

Ms Kombani was responding to Mkiwa Kimwanga (Special Seats-CUF), who had expressed her worries over the alleged government plans to remove by force about 40,000 residents from the hills.

However, Ms Kombani clarified that those who built their houses after 2003 would be asked to leave as the city, in collaboration with the local government, had outlawed further building of houses in the area.
