SPORTS NEWS: Win or lose, let’s cheer Taifa Stars

THERE was a lot of excitement in Mwanza ahead of Taifa Stars’ match against Senegal’s national soccer team this week. On Wednesday there was a traffic jam at the airport’s parking area when a large group of fans and Mwanza residents convened to welcome their national team on a scheduled Air Tanzania flight from Dar es Salaam.

I had other worries. Would I be able to pick up an arriving passenger and drive off ahead of the Taifa Stars and fans’ convoy so that I would not be held up by traffic? Maybe Dar’s residents are getting used to traffic, but it will take a few hundred years for Butiama’s residents to reach that stage.
