Shinyanga regional hospital for expansion

THE government has set aside 520m/- for rehabilitation and expansion of the Shinyanga regional hospital in a bid to improve health service delivery in the region.

President Jakaya Kikwete revealed this yesterday and expressed hope that improvement of the hospital would help ease congestion at Mwanza’s Bugando Referral Hospital where patients from the lake zone have been flocking even for cases that could be handled by regional hospitals.

“However, our long term goal is to oversee construction of a dispensary in each village in the country to make health services accessible to all,” noted the president when addressing a huge public rally at Mji Mkongwe grounds. He reiterated his call for people to beware of HIV/AIDS threat and join government efforts to contain the spread of the disease.
