It's May Day Today

PRESIDENT Jakaya Kikwete will today officiate at the May Day celebrations to be held at the national level in Mwanza.

The president will use the occasion to deliver his monthly state-of- the-nation address, a press statement from the State House said yesterday.

President Kikwete tomorrow begins a ten-day working tour of Mwanza, the country’s second most populous region after Dar es Salaam and hub of the nation’s mining industry, cotton growing industry and fish exports to Europe. Cotton is the country’s leading export commodity but currently faces a number of problems including low producer prices and streamlined marketing.
